Champions League team news - Roma v Chelsea

Ashley Cole and Ricardo Carvalho will miss Chelsea's Champions League trip to Italian side Roma tonight at the Stadio Olimpico.

Left-back Cole picked up a calf injury during Saturday's 5-0 victory over Sunderland, with blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari replacing him with Wayne Bridge.

Carvalho continues his spell on the sidelines after being injured in Chelsea's 1-0 home defeat to Liverpool, as Brazilian defender Alex, who scored in Chelsea's weekend win, replaces Carvalho.

Nicolas Anelka will start for the West Londoners after scoring a hat-trick in the Premier League last weekend, though Didier Drogba starts on the bench after making a substitute appearance at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Former Chelsea defender Christian Panucci starts for Roma, whilst ex-Italian World Cup winner Francesco Totti spearheads the attack.

Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Terry, Alex, Bridge, Deco, Mikel, Lampard, Joe Cole, Anelka, Malouda.

Subs: Cudicini, Ivanovic, Di Santo, Drogba, Ferreira, Kalou, Belletti.
