Faima Bakar, who writes for The Metro, will be discussing The State of Racism and young BAME voices in digital media in an online talk organised by the university's School of European Culture and Languages.
It's on Thursday 4th June at 5.00pm-6.00pm via Zoom.
The school writes:
Faima works for The Metro newspaper and has recently been involved in writing articles for her State of Racism series – for which she has been widely praised, but which has also led to death threats!
Faima is passionate about the future of digital media and why it is so important that young, fresh and BAME voices should be heard. She has written more than 2,500 articles on topics including health, food and fashion, as well as issues close to her heart such as race, religion and gender discourse. She is also interested in generational differences and observing up and coming trends that are appealing to younger audiences, so you will find her on TikTok too!
