An odd sleep-deprived ramble about my favourite painting

Is it possible to write about art without sounding pompous? That’s a genuine question.

I’ve written this intro about twelve-hundred times (well I’ve got time for it now) and I just end up writing in Tory. I always sound a bit like Boris Johnson explaining the artistry of building models out of matchsticks, although I don’t have the gorgeous blonde locks for that… not yet anyway.

Why Harry Styles can get you through the New Years blues

I have a confession. It’s something I have been holding in for a while and I think it’s time to come clean.

I like Harry Styles.

It started as everything does; you tell yourself just one won’t hurt. First, it’s Sign of the Times. A simple soft rock track. It doesn’t feel too wrong to allow yourself a listen, but then you forget to pause. Now you’re on the album. Now you’re listening to it for a third time. Now you’re done for.

What I'm most looking forward to in 2019

Before last year I’d never seen a film twice in the cinema. I didn’t even know people were sad enough to do that until a friend said he’d seen Blade Runner 2049 five times. But, last year I realised I am that sad. I watched at least 5 films twice or more in the cinema. I unashamedly watched the Greatest Showman three times and I would do it again.
