Applications are invited for the 2010 Bob Friend Memorial Scholarship, awarded in memory of the former Sky News presenter and journalist.

The 2010 Bob Friend Scholar will have their first year tuition fees paid, and will be guaranteed a month-long summer work placement at Sky News, for which travel and accommodation expenses up to a maximum of £2,000 will be paid.

The Scholar must be a first year student at the Centre for Journalism and the criteria for selection include academic merit, ability to convey passion for journalism and willingness and ability to act as an ambassador for the University and Sky News.

The deadline for the first set of tasks is noon on Monday, 1 February.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a selection panel on Wednesday, 3 February.
