Twitter has gone down for maintenance, despite pleas from the U.S. Government to keep it running for updates on the Iran crisis. The social media sites seem to be at the core of delivering information at the moment as Iran has shut down websites and closed newspapers, as well as banning foreign journalists.

So, has Twitter turned a corner in the cynics opinion? I’d link you to some excellent examples, but for obvious reasons I can’t right now, so I will keep it short and update this sometime soon.
