Telegraph editorial training scheme open for graduate applications… if you can work out how

The Telegraph’s graduate training scheme is open for applications, with a closing date of November 29.

Some details of the scheme site are on the Telegraph’s web site, although rather cunningly they don’t include any instructions as to how to actually apply – presumably applicants have to demonstrate some investigative journalism in finding out.

The blurb says: “At an exciting and challenging time for our industry, the Telegraph is committed to seismic change, and creative people who are skilled in new ways of storytelling and distributing their work via social media and other channels that will play a crucial role in shaping our future.”  They could be describing Centre for Journalism graduates.

“So if you are a recent graduate and want a stimulating career with a successful global media business, this is your chance. You’ll possess a good degree, a deep interest in current affairs, fizz with original and unconventional ideas, and have a passion for and committment to quality journalism.”

Nice mis-spelling of commitment there… presumably also part of a subsequent copy-subbing challenge.

Successful candidates will spend 7 weeks at the Press Association’s training facility in Yorkshire, before embarking upon placements with regional newspapers, and then on to additional placements in various parts of the Telegraph media empire.
