Utterly moving

This story on the Telegraph website is a fantastic account of how Lance Corporal Andrew Wardle was awarded the Military Cross, after a selfless act of bravery.

The 22 year-old risked life and limb in January, to grab a young Afghan child, who was under enemy fire.

Wardle and his squad were advancing on a Taliban firing post, when they came under more fire from the right. The child appeared to be crossing the lines of fire, to get to the safety of the British troops. Taliban troops shot the child in the back, to stop him from getting there.

What is key about this story is the way that the voice of Wardle is where the drama lies. The writer of the story does little sensationalising. The story itself is so good that the presentation comes second, in stark contrast to stories where presentation has to compensate for lack of drama.
