Toilet trips are about to reach a new level as games consoles are installed in men’s toilets to combat ‘urinal boredom’.
British company, Captive Media, has developed a hands free urine-controlled product to make every man’s toilet experience that little bit more fun. The console consists of a 12 inch LCD screen which sits above the urinal and the user has three targets to aim for inside the urinal. An infra-red device enables the console to detect where the urine lands. Games include a pub quiz and a skiing challenge with penguins.
According to trade paper Adweek, men spend an average of 55 seconds at the urinal, and apparently this is long enough to create a substantial amount of boredom and squeeze in a quick game or two at the same time!
The Exhibit Bar, in Balham, South London, is the first to make use of this new toy. Owner, Drew Weatherhead believes it will help “differentiate” the pub from local competition.
Trials of the game even show that urinals remain cleaner due to increased accuracy of aim.
I have to admit, that while I think this is completely unnecessary (is 55 seconds really long enough to justify this?) I do find the idea very amusing. I do love a good old pub quiz and skiing with penguins sounds like fun. But obviously, being female, this gadget doesn’t apply to me. What I want to know is, what is the alternative for women? Well according to Captive Media, the next step is to install similar consoles by hand dryers to alleviate boredom while queuing for the women’s toilets.
