It takes a brave student to go head to head with the CfJ’s head of department Tim Luckhurst, so full respect to year 3 undergraduate Jack Reed – who picked up the gauntlet thrown down by BBC Radio 4’s quiz show The 3rd Degree.

The programme, hosted by comedian Steve Punt,  pits students against their lecturers in a battle of general knowledge and specialist questions. This week the programme was recorded at the University of Kent and featured representatives from the Anthropology and Computing departments as well as our very own journalism titans.

But who prevailed in this epic contest of wits and wills?
