We would very much like to invite you to this year’s Orwell Prize launch debate, which will take place at the Frontline Club, London W2 1QJ on Thursday 21st October 2010. Join us for a discussion on ‘poverty and the spending review’, with three experts putting the previous day’s announcement into context. (We’ll be making poverty a focus of our activity this year, with the 75th anniversary of Orwell’s journey to Wigan Pier coming up in January 2011.)

Entries for the Orwell Prize 2011 will open on the night, and remain open until 19th January 2011 for all work first published in 2010. Entry forms and rules will be available on our website for the Book Prize, Journalism Prize and Blog Prize.
Separately, this year’s Orwell Lecture will be given by Ferdinand Mount on the subject of ‘Orwell and the Oligarchs’ at Beveridge Hall, Senate House, London WC1E 7HX on Friday 26th November at 5pm. Admission is free – if you’d like to attend, please email [email protected].
