Preston wins funding to produce collaborative community media
A group of media projects and charities in Preston are going to receive funding from NESTA’s Neighbourhood Challenge, aimed at helping to change their community for the better.
They plan on using the funding to train locals to produce their own content and aim to ‘provide communities with the toolsets, support and facilities to create their own content and set their own news agendas’.
Speaking on Blog Preston about it, Joseph Stashko, said: “We want to create a surge of community journalism, to enable people to question and report what’s going on around them, and use our platform to showcase their work.”
It’s going to be interesting to see what happens over the next year.
