Two stories stood out this morning on the Daily Mail’s website. So much so, I had to check the business news that Bill Gates hadn’t initiated a takeover of the newspaper. Both stories we’re fairly high up on the website, and both seemed to be following the current trend set by news outlets of rubbishing technology giant Apple.
The first is the news that all iPad owners are the ‘selfish elite’, according to a poll in America. It’s pretty brutal in its condemnation of iPad owners, going as far to say ‘the next time you see someone sitting on a train smugly using theirs, take comfort from the fact they are probably not a nice person’ (heres looking at you Ian).
The second story is that the porn industry is taking advantage of the new ‘FaceTime’ feature found on the latest iPhone. FaceTime is the free video calling service that utilises the iPhone 4’s front and back facing cameras. In a natural prograssion from the ‘dirty phonecall’, adult industries in America are experimenting with Apple’s latest ‘Jesus Phone’. This is slightly troubling for Apple, as they’re known for being more squeaky clean than Steve Jobs’ bald head.
Since ‘Antennagate’, the world’s media seems to be making a combined effort in damning Apple’s prodcuts. Whereas the San Francisco company was once the David to Microsoft’s Goliath in the technology world, the press seem to turning on everything beginning with ‘i’. Is this the end of Apple’s honeymoon period with the media? I know it’s the Daily Mail and these particular iPads were probably bought over by illegal immigrants who had a type of cancer that lowers house prices, but still, potentially the start of a trend of rotten apples?
