I found this in the Guardian today. It's a commentary on Gordon Brown's speech to Congress yesterday by Oliver Burkeman, who writes about US politics for the paper quite extensively. Just thought I'd post it up as it's a good read and pretty funny to boot.


Yes, I too, am getting tired of hearing about our 'special relationship' with the US.

It looks like in a relationship with people, we're scared of getting dumped so we buy them a big gift, being the honourary knighthood, and suck up something stupid. 

Its good he is proving to be liked by Congress, but it is a little humiliating having to keep crawling up to them, no matter how honest it sounds. 

I think a box set of DVDs says it all really doesn't it?
