We are looking for reporters to join our editorial team publishing the Rutland and Stamford Mercury, The Bourne Local and Rutland Times, based in the beautiful market town of Stamford. With three vibrant newspapers – and associated websites – we can promise you’ll never be bored! We are proud to be at the heart of the communities we serve and have a strong readership in print and online. The Mercury is Britain’s oldest continuously published newspaper, first published in 1712, and while we are proud of that heritage, we are also excited about our future – one that you could be a part of.

The successful candidates will be highly motivated, have strong news-gathering skills and be able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. A sharp news sense is vital, as is the ability to provide accurate clean copy. A solid understanding of social media is key, as is an attitude that is supportive, enthusiastic and positive.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a news team which works hard to cover issues close to the hearts of the communities it serves. The successful candidates will be able to focus clearly on issues that hold the interest of our readers and be keen to build relationships. They will bring in stories, be good with people and have a friendly telephone manner.

Flexibility with time is necessary to ensure meetings and events are covered. A full UK driving licence is also required.
