If John McCain is elected next month and then dies, would Sarah Palin serve out the rest of his term? Would Sarah “invading Russia might be necessary” Palin, who prays for gas lines to be built (http://adn.com/sarah-palin/story/518522.html), actually be president of the United States of America?
In the year 2002 there were an estimated 764,160* teenage pregnancies in the USA (under 20s), and approximately 222,530 abortions in the same age group. Palin is fiercely pro-life, against abortion of all forms, even in the case of rape or incest, only condoning it when the mother’s life is in danger. In a Palin administraion, what would happen to those hundreds of thousands of young women who have abortions every year? Would they have to have their babies, no matter what the circumstances of its conception? Approximately 20% of births of this type are miscarriages, so such a policy could result in tens of thousands of babies being miscarried. And what of those that were unwanted? The effects on society as a whole are incalculable, but the number of people’s lives affected by such a hypothetical policy are vast.
